Hermoso is Spain's all-time top scorer and played a key role in Spain's 2023 World Cup win, but is not part of their Euro 2025 bid. The 35-year-old is the highest profile omission from the squad that sees 12 changes from the roster that won the World Cup.

Hermoso was also the victim of a sexual assault by Spanish football federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales after the final. Rubiales was found guilty in February and ordered to pay more than €10,000 (£8,274) in fines by the High Court. Hermoso has not played for Spain since 2024 and Tome has explained why she has been left out of the squad for this summer's tournament.
WHAT TOME SAID
The Spain boss discussed her selection at a press conference. She said: "I understand Jenni is an important player. I spoke with her at the beginning of the year about her situation and we have done the same work with her as with everyone else. We have assessed her performances for Tigres and spoken with her coach, but in her position, we have Patri [Guijarro], Aitana [Bonmatí], Alexia [Putellas], Maite [Zubieta], Vicky [López] and even Mariona [Caldentey] or [Claudia] Pina can come in there. It's hard to pick 23 players, but we do the job professionally and at the end of the day that is what we have chosen."
