Former Watford striker Deeney, in conversation with ex-West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker for , has said when quizzed on when Wrexham will reach the big time: “Never.” Reo-Coker responded with: “Bro, never?! I would disagree. I would give them three to four years maybe in the Championship. Then they’ll make the Premier League.”

Deeney – who is a lifelong Birmingham fan and sees the Blues battling with the Red Dragons in League One this season – refused to waver in his stance, adding: “If they make it within five years, I’ll give £1,000 to any charity that [CBS] choose.”
