Jarrod Bowen may be one of the most in-demand footballers in Britain at the moment as he’s apparently being tracked by no less than seven clubs according to recent reports.
One of the sides that are reportedly interested in the winger’s services are Leeds United, but the 22-year-old may not be arriving at Elland Road anytime soon if Phil Hay’s latest information is correct.
What’s been said then?
The Atheltic’s Leeds United correspondent was hosting a Q&A session after United’s 2-0 win against Hull.
Understandably, questions were asked about Bowen’s future, but Hay’s response probably wasn’t what many supporters were hoping for.
“Some whispers tonight about Bowen to West Brom. We’ll see though. Hull want big money for him.”
Worst case scenario
Leeds will be gutted to be missing out on Bowen themselves, but this may be the worst possible scenario.
West Brom are Leeds’ closest challengers for the Championship title, and if they add Bowen to their squad that will only strengthen their chances of finishing above Marcelo Bielsa’s side come the end of the season.
The Baggies are currently just a point behind in the Whites but take on Wigan Athletic away from home on Wednesday night. A win for Albion there and they’ll leap ahead of Leeds once again.
United will want every single team that are challenging for an automatic promotion spot to drop off in order to bolster their chances of going up, but if Bowen arrives at The Hawthorns it’s hard to see that happening.
The Hull man has netted 14 goals already this term, and if the Baggies add that type of talent to their squad they’ll have a great chance of finishing above United and lifting the title.
In other news, Leeds fans have been heaping praise upon one man after his showing against Hull.
