Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is ready to throw in the towel this summer and aims to seal a move to Real Madrid, according to The Sun.
What’s the word?
Despite continuing to tear apart Premier League defences this season, Sergio Aguero hasn’t looked at his best under Pep Guardiola and there’s the growing possibility the Argentine could be sold this summer- having seen Gabriel Jesus arrive to great fanfare during January.
The Brazilian youngster has excelled in the first month of his time in the Premier League and has reduced the club’s reliance on star-man Sergio Aguero, whilst the Citizens also boast back-up in the form of Nigerian ace Kelechi Iheanacho.
Frustrated by the turn in situation, The Sun states Aguero wants to return to the Spanish capital this summer, where he excelled with Atletico Madrid before moving to England, and this time he wants to join Real Madrid.
Will City sell?
Aguero may remain as one of the finest striker’s in the Premier League but he has struggled for fitness this season, suffering from some long-term injuries, and at times doesn’t quite seem able to fit into Pep Guardiola’s strategy.
Selling Aguero would be a huge decision for Manchester City, as the Argentine striker is the club’s all-time leading scorer and has years ahead of him, only turning 29 this summer, but the rise of Gabriel Jesus has lessened the importance of Aguero.
City would certainly not offload Aguero on the cheap though and Real Madrid, or any interested party, would have to offer around £60m before Guardiola’s side would even consider a sale- a fee that would put Aguero up there with the biggest names in the world.
