City need a point at Fulham on Sunday to guarantee a place in the top five and to ensure a poor league campaign does not end in disaster. And Guardiola claims he is not bothered how they achieve it, hinting at a change in approach to ensure his side get the result they need.

Guardiola said: "The manager is good if you win – if you don’t then his decisions are wrong. Any plan when you win, that’s really, really, really good. We are judged for our results, not for the way we want to approach the game. If we have to play in a certain way to take a point then I will do it. If that means changing the principles, to sit back and wait for the transition, and play another way to take the point, then I will do it. I promise you I will do it."
