The World Cup-winning midfielder was at the peak of his powers during a first spell in Turin between 2012 and 2016. That stint was sandwiched between two at Premier League giants Manchester United, with Pogba forging a reputation as one of the most exciting talents in world football.

His actions did not always go down well with his coaches, though, with former Juve loanee Romulo telling of how Pogba was sanctioned by Allegri in the 2014-15 season for failing to turn the volume on his headphones down. Romulo revealed: “I remember this away victory against Sassuolo and that Pogba was listening to music with his headphones, but the volume was so high that everyone inside the dressing room could hear it. Allegri fined him €20,000 the following day even though he scored an amazing goal. It’s something that would never happen in Brazil.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Allegri replaced Antonio Conte as Juve manager at the start of the 2014-15 campaign, with a change in the dugout forced one day into pre-season. He landed the Serie A title and made the Champions League final in his first year, but Romelu added on some players wanting him out: “I played under Allegri in his first season at Juventus and it was amazing,” said Romulo. However, some players were angry in the first month. They said: ‘he has to go, this is not good’ because they were accustomed to Conte. However, after three months, they regretted saying those things. They realised he [Allegri] was an empathic person who knows how to manage the dressing room and has clear tactical ideas.”
